Children in the foster care system face hardships that most of us cannot fathom. For children who cannot be with their families on birthdays and holidays, these special occasions can be difficult. Tidewater Friends of Foster Care strives to bring a little more hope and joy to the foster children we serve throughout Hampton Roads by granting birthday and holiday wishes.
Our Gifting Program
Birthdays
There is no shortage of birthday gift needs and we work hard to make birthdays extra special by coordinating personalized gifts for children in foster care.
The program is simple – you indicate your willingness to participate using the form below, and our birthday coordinator will reach out to learn more about you and your preferences for sponsorship. We will then send you the wish list of a child or children in the system with an upcoming birthday.
You go shopping for gifts on the list – new items only – with a total value of $50.
Holidays
Thanks to our generous sponsors, each year we guarantee that more than 1000 children receive gifts during the holiday season, helping bring cheer to kids who need it and alleviate pressures the holidays can bring for both the children and foster parents.
To get started, complete our gifting form and we will reach out to find out more about you and who you wish to sponsor. We then pair you up with a foster child’s gift wish list – Each list has the Child’s name, age, and 2 to 3 items they would like to receive this holiday season.
You go shopping for gifts on the list – new items only – with a total value of $75.
Bag, tag and itemize the gifts, then drop them off to us! We drop locations across the region to make gifting as convenient as possible. Easy breezy!
